Depression, fear, grief, shame and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable phenomena that we can experience as humans. I will work with you to consider the contours and patterns of your experience. We will unearth the core of these problems to consider what real healing can look like, while also addressing how to manage these challenges, cope and thrive.
If you're struggling in your relationship with your spouse or partner (or friend(s) too), you're not alone. Each stage of life can bring challenges and changes. Sometimes dysfunctional patterns from a decade ago keep coming up again and again. Or maybe your relationship is hanging by a thread. I will work with you to address your relationship's needs, the barriers that get in the way, and how to move towards deeper intimacy and connection.
If you're a Christian, you may be struggling with a unique set of questions. Maybe you feel distant from God. How can a good and loving God allow such pain in your life? Maybe you have been harmed by the church and are disillusioned by it all. Maybe you're in a journey of deconstruction. I will be a safe place to explore these concerns as we consider how God can meet us in the midst of our struggles, doubts and sorrow.
Work is one of the most constant things in life and, as such, it can foster unfathomable discouragement, depression and misery. Maybe you hate your job or you feel you missed your calling in life. Or maybe you feel like you're floating through life, never knowing what you were meant for. I will help you understand who you are (your identity and how you're wired) and how to implement yourself in the world. This includes the practical stuff too - like resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, stress management, etc.
Foundational to a successful counseling experience is the building of a genuine and authentic therapeutic relationship. It's in this context of safety and acceptance that you are invited to be your raw unfiltered self.
You are a unique person. Because of this, I recognize the highly individualized and complex background and set of experiences that you carry with you. My approach is adjusted to meet your needs.
I also seek to implement tried and true methods and interventions. I work through theoretical frameworks that include (but are not limited to) person-centered, psychodynamic, existential, narrative, solutions focused, and mindfulness interventions.
